How It All Began: The Miss Brick Throw Era
Before the Miss Stroud title became a recognized preliminary to the Miss Oklahoma competition, its story began as a beloved local tradition: The Miss Brick Throw Pageant. Held in conjunction with Stroud’s world-famous International Brick and Rolling Pin Throwing Competition (an international event shared among the four Stroud’s across the globe). Miss Brick Throw was a cornerstone of community celebration. While it originated as a local pageant, it served as a launching pad for remarkable young women. During this era, the winner of Miss Brick Throw was afforded the opportunity to advance to the Miss Oil Patch Pageant in Drumright. Making history in our local pageant archives, Jo Lynn Graham holds the unique distinction of being the only Miss Brick Throw winner to go on and capture the coveted Miss Oil Patch crown!
1979 – 2004: The Golden Era of Miss Stroud
As the local program officially expanded beyond community festivals into a recognized preliminary to Miss Oklahoma, the quarter-century between 1979 and 2004 marked a powerful chapter of growth and statewide success. During these 25 years, local young women transformed the Miss Stroud title into a symbol of poise, talent, and service across the state. This era had unforgettable milestones for our local community: Supported by the Stroud Chamber of Commerce, local business sponsors, and a dedicated community, these titleholders proved that a small town along Route 66 could produce leaders capable of commanding any stage. The accomplishments of this 1979–2004 sisterhood established the high standards of scholarship and community advocacy that guide our local organization today

Blazing our own path along the Mother Road: The creation of the Miss Route 66 Scholarship Organization
After serving on the Miss Lincoln County Board for a year, we saw the impact pageantry can have on young women. Inspired to do more, we envisioned a platform that would do two things: honor the iconic, historic legacy of Route 66 & Miss Stroud title, and cultivate a community rooted in love, respect, and inclusion for everyone! From that vision, the Miss Route 66 Scholarship Organization was born!
In addition to our titleholders, we also proudly introduced the Route 66 Starlets 💫this year, a mentorship program made up of young girls between the ages of 5 to 9, designed to inspire the next generation. Throughout their year of service, our titleholders work directly with our Route 66 Starlets, providing guidance, encouragement, and experiences that build confidence, character, and a spirit of service.
Together with our directors, board, and Route 66 Starlets mentorship program, our 2026 class is a trail for future delegates, proving that honoring our local roots while expanding our vision creates a platform for young women to earn scholarships, find their voices, and serve Oklahoma. At the heart of everything we do is a simple, powerful commitment: kindness. Through every titleholder, Route 66 Starlet, board member, and volunteer, we strive to make a positive impact on every person we meet. Whether we are walking in a local parade, serving at a community event, visiting a school, or representing our region at state competitions, our team leads with heart. We believe that empowering young women starts with cultivating respect, uplifting those around us, and ensuring every individual in our community feels seen, valued, and welcomed. As an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we are rooted in community service, leadership development, and academic achievement. Our mission bridges the rich, historic legacy of Stroud and Lincoln County with an expanded community all along the Mother Road.
This year, we made quite a splash in our rookie year: for the first time in our history, we had not one Semi-Finalist but two! As Miss Lincoln County, Addison Tesio was a Semi-Finalist for Miss Oklahoma, and Miss Lincoln County’s Teen, LaceyAnn Lake, was a Semi-Finalist at Miss Oklahoma Teen!!
